Protecting young ones from the sun is so important as they are so vulnerable to the sun and the damage it can do. A fact which is not as widely known as it should be is that getting sun burnt in younger years can drastically increase the risk of skin cancer later in life. Hence, sun protection for our young ones is an absolute must.
Keeping children safe from the sun is not that hard to do provided you have got the right tools at hand. Sunscreen and sun protection clothing (including a hat!) are an absolute must if they are playing outdoors.
- Rashies or sun protection tops are becoming more popular as parents are slowly realising the implication of keeping their children sun protected. The new rashie for kids has been reinvented to look great and also more functional than ever before. - Shade is a great way to reduce the sun exposure and beach umbrellas or tents can help create a shady environment. Especially at places like the beach or the pool where shade is not as easy to come by.
- Knowing to reapply the sunscreen every 2 hours or even more frequently if they are running in and out of the water is a good habit to get into. A lot of sunscreens are water resistant for a particular amount of time and will need to be reapplied.
Instilling this important knowledge early in life can help educate them on protecting themselves as they get older. A really good habit to have!
